Communicating Scientific Findings
Scientists must organise and share their research and experiment results clearly. This helps others understand their work and use it to learn more about science.

Ways to Communicate Findings
Scientists present their research in different ways, depending on the purpose and audience. Some common methods include:

Written reports – A structured document explaining the experiment, results, and conclusions.

Graphs and charts – Used to show patterns and relationships in data, such as a line graph to track temperature changes over time.

Diagrams and models – Drawings or 3D models to explain scientific ideas, such as a model of the solar system.

Multimedia presentations – Slideshows, videos, or posters to visually share findings.

Scientific journals – Published articles that allow other scientists to review and build on the research.

Making Communication Clear and Fit for Purpose
When presenting findings, scientists must:

Use the correct scientific terminology – Clearly explain concepts and results using accurate vocabulary.

Some key terms include:

Hypothesis – A possible explanation that can be tested (e.g. I predict that increasing the temperature will speed up the reaction).

Variable – A factor that can be changed in an experiment (e.g. independent variable: temperature, dependent variable: reaction time).

Control group – A group that is not changed in an experiment, used for comparison.

Qualitative data – Descriptive observations (e.g. the liquid turned blue).

Quantitative data – Measured values (e.g. the temperature increased by 5°C).

Conclusion –
A summary of what was learned from the experiment (e.g. The results show that light is needed for photosynthesis).

Organise information logically –
Follow a clear structure:
1️⃣ Introduction – What is being investigated and why.
2️⃣ Method – Steps taken in the experiment, including materials used.
3️⃣ Results – Observations, data, and graphs. 4️⃣ Conclusion – What the data shows and any explanations.

Choose the right method for the audience – A detailed lab report is used for other scientists, while a poster or presentation may be better for the general public. Good scientific communication helps others understand, evaluate, and apply new discoveries!
