Today we continued with our study of the Circulatory System.

We did an experiment, opening and closing our hands for 1 minute, to show that the heart is very special in that it is a muscle that never stops or gets tired.

Today we did a number of experiments:
  • We discovered that the average resting heart rate was 16 beats per minute and that this increases with exercise.
  • We experimented to see if there is more Carbon dioxide in exhaled that inhaled air.
  • We tested glucose solution with Benedict's Solution and heat an saw that it turned a brick red colour.
  • We tested rice and a biscuits with iodine, they turned a black colour indicating the presence of starch.

HW: Do the questions at the end of the chapter on Digestion (Book pages 36-37)
